I recommendid it to people who like to be surrounded by an enormously huge sound. There are days when you don't really bother for themes or fluffy things, on the contrary.. this score unleashes a floorshaking hell! The greatness of some of the passages remind me of the enormous sound of Hellraiser. All the instruments playing loud to give you a blast in the face, no mercy! And if the massive brass, strings and percussion isn't enough: the choir happily joins the sound-hurricane. There's room for more softer, emotional passages however, it all creates an enormous dynamic score: from delicate to massive, feel-good phrases to chaos. The loudness and complexity isn't there just to create noise, the orchestration and composition is really strong and solid. The orchestral greatness remotely reminds me of Miklos Rozsa now and then.
If you only care for pretty themes etc. then this score is probably not for you, though..
I think Goldenthal-fans might also wish to listen to this one.. Goldenthal and Young would make a great team together. ^_^
