As a huge movie music buff, and a Silvestri fan, I have to say that if it were not for the score of Cast Away, it would probably not be my favorite movie. I love the movie, and mostly because the music is absolutely beautiful. I found it very interesting that he chose to use only 10 minutes for an original score. But, I do agree that it is symbolic of the movie's theme: isolation and separation. I think the use of strings and piano in the end credits is masterfully done....it's so beautiful that I listen to it all the time. I also like how he chose NOT to use the piano for the score until the end credits (notice the scene where he leaves the island, and when Wilson floats away...there is no piano present.) I think it makes the end credits more enthralling and captivating. I wish someone had the entire score from this movie, including the scenes near the end. Best music I have ever heard!

You might be interested to know that i have the Oscar Promotional album to the movie... containing 7 tracks (With the end titles track at the end of the album) its total track time is 22:06 just to let you know

It's been more than a year since you posted about having the promotional album. I was wondering whether I could obtain a copy of it, or borrow it to make a copy. It was the ABC movie of the week recently, and I really appreciate the power of the musical score to enhance the story.
