I agree with the review for the movie... but not quite with the one for the score.
Not only the music is beautiful on its own, aside from the movie... not only it's different from Williams' traditional style (though it has some "Williams-like" tracks, e.g. "Jim's new life" or "No road home/Seeing the bomb", most of them, like "imaginary air battle" or "the return to the city", for example, are very original), but listening to the whole album makes you feel quite like the little lost child... imaginating battles and misunderstanding the true battle beyond his very own house ("imaginary air battle"), taking fun from whatever situations ("Jim's new life", he's a child anyway), lost ("fast streets of Shanghai"), hopeless and starved ("return to the city"), mature ("No road home/seeing the bomb")...
I place this score on top of Williams' work alongside with "Empire Strikes Back".
