Horner's metamorphosis

In recent years I noticed that Horner is trying to make some changes in his works. House Of Sand And Fog has much in common with James'new approach to the music. You may find the score dull or completely uninteresting because Horner has resigned from intensity in order to pay attention to main characters of the film. I suppose the composer wanted to understand what the actors felt and what kind of mood they were in. That is why Horner did not care for the main theme that is rather superficial. House Of Sand And Fog has ones of the best synthesisers ever used by Horner. But I hope James will return to his previous tuneful melodies.
