I'm sorry. I love much of Danny Elfman's work. As is stated, this a comment section and not a review section, so don't expect me to give logical criticizm. Its more of an emotional criticizm.

Having said that, I will now add this: It seems that everything surrounding this movie seems to suck! BAD!! The problems with the studio, the stupid-fake looking-CGI Hulk (aaaggghhhh), the endless amount of advertising and cross-promotion, and very sorry to say- lame sounding score.
I will admit that I haven't actually heard anything more than the sound clips presented in this review section. But judging from what I have heard and the descriptions given by the reviewer, this is a bad score for a more than likely horrible movie. I understand Mr. Elfman didn't have much time to create a compelling score, and frankly, I never expected much from this score because of the time he was given. I guess what I'm trying to say is that its just so sad to see this happen again and again with Elfman.
The instruments and singing seem so out of place for the movie, other times the music is messy, loud and obnoxious. Most disappointing, is that there is no strong theme that will ever be memorable to anybody. A comic action movie has got to have a strong theme that the movie watcher can root to. Batman is a perfect example, I will never forget its theme! I still to this day drive to work pretending I'm Batman while playing the score in my car (it sounds geeky, but I assure you I am not a geek). And for those of you who believe Spiderman had a great score with a great theme are out of your minds! I took that CD out of my rotation in no time. You're all a bunch of Elfman freaks!
Another example of a great thematic score was Men In Black, and not just the 1st one but Men In Black 2 as well. MIB2 must have been scored by Elfman right after he finished Spiderman, so he must have had more time, right? MIB2 was far superior to Spiderman. You might say he already created a great score and theme for MIB, so it was easy to rehash his old score. But they gave him a very different movie, with a very different feel. He composed a score that borrowed from the first movie but turned it into something totally different and great in its own right for MIB2.
Anyways, thank you for listening to my opinions. Please Danny boy, I know you can do better.
