I really don't get it. Leave the guy alone. Zimmer is who he is, and he won't change. The score was great in my opinion, and to say it is boring, not so. Also, the comment about us not understanding the history of film music, that like calling digital photography, not photography, because one can cheat by retaking pictures and photo-cropping.
The history of film music is to work with the film, blending together sound and picture, so it becomes a marriage. Hans did a fantastic job with that in Inception, and all of the Pirate films.
It seems to me, this reviewer simply dis-likes Hans Zimmer, and will almost always dis-like him.
Here is what it comes down to...If the director likes it, then its great! I honestly doubt Zimmer cares about a critic who continuously scrutinizes his style of writing. Zimmer is not going to change, and that's perfectly fine with me.
