Come on! This is Danny Elfman, here! The man's a genius. How bad can the score be?

The score's fantastic. The reviewer just prefers scores with a melody he can hum along to, as opposed to cleverly constructed motif pieces. It's personal preference and nothing else.

No, seriously, this is a good score. Comments that it "should have been Zimmer because he did 'Hannibal'" are just ridiculous. Though the music is very, very dark and brooding, and it really is quite depressing and so may not find favour with Elfman fans who prefer his quirky and zany angle more...!

It's not a bad score IN the movie. I can see how it wouldn't be very interesting just on a CD, though.

But I just saw the movie two nights ago and without the creepy main titles setting the intensity stage and the orchestra hits and rips throughout the score, I wouldn't have been as afraid!

I would be interested in Christian's review of this CD "in movie" and "on CD" to see if he sees the difference.
