As far as your observation about the recording being "dry":
I think part of the reason I've had this score in heavy rotation is just that.
The immediacy of the mix is quite refreshing in light of all the over-produced and reverb-drenched recordings of the past ten years or so...
My word for this album's soundscape is "CRISP".
Like oak leaves underfoot on an autumn eve. Or Pringles.
