When I first heard the music to this movie I was disgusted at how much it sounded like the campy pop music of the era. I was even more disgusted when I found out that Alan Silvestri, one of the biggest names in film music, was capable of writing such rubbish. The saxaphone pieces are an extremely over used cliche. The pop-like main theme is way too corny and upbeat for the scenes it was written for, comedy or not. Not to mention the annoying synth snare drums used in the final action sequence. After about three seconds of those you want to pull your hair out!
In my opinion, Varese needs to continue releasing Silvestri's previously unavailable work as they've been doing (Romancing the Stone, Predator) but next they should move onto Back to the Future. By the way, if anyone has a copy of the complete Back to the Future, could you e-mail me? I'm in financial distress most of the year but maybe we could work out a trade. Thanks
