Elfman proves he is one of the best

Elfman has proven time and time again that he is the only man for the job when the job involves strange, slightly off-beat films and now comic book adaptions.

Although he has enter a "percussion-intensive" stage in his career, Elfman perfectly blends this with subtle, but very effective, themes. The major theme is a small 8-note motive that is almost always played by the French Horn. This is crucial because no other instrument has the ability to play such a wide range of moods (bombastic, stately, somber, sad, melencholy, etc.) and pull off each one so well. You hear this theme everywhere in the score to represent almost every aspect of the film.

Long post short, Elfman is a master of alternative scoring.
