Following on the heels of 2009's re-release and expansion of Stark Trek II, Film Score Monthly has masterfully given Star Trek III the release it deserves. Personally, I find Star Trek III a highly satisfying listen. Previously unreleased cues such as "A Fighting Chance to Live" (I just love it when Kirk's theme makes its dramatic appearance in that cue---my favorite rendition of Trek II and III) and "Genesis Destroyed" demonstrate how good Horner is at scoring dramatic cinematic moments. The sound quality is far above the "archival" quality of the GNP release. Understanbly the prior package likely deserved the three star rating given by Filmtracks, but this new expanded version deserves four stars (Star Trek III is far and away a better score than Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen also given a three star rating).
