Re: Must we attach a ranking to each great theme or can we simply appreciate them? I agree. Rating the themes is such a trivial and ultimately superficial thing to do. If anything with this site, I've found that the reviews are boring and focus at length sometimes on the history of past recordings when they should be telling about the individual cues. I thought this was a site about "FILM MUSIC". Let us discuss the film, and music, and (here's a shocker) let's discuss how they match up. Let's even try to figure out why. We could begin by discussing the melodic-harmonic relationship. Let's not forget rhythm. We could then move into the realm of orchestration. And finally dramatic scoring techniques. Or, you know what, f@#* it, that's not really essential to a site porporting to be about film scores. Let's get bogged down by how "crisp" and "clean" the recording is. Let's glibly throw out words like "masterful" and "genius" and then try to figure out the best score of 1994 because that's what's really important and that's what people want to learn about.
