While Clemmenson's comments on the Media Ventures work for Pirates of the Caribbean are far from unfounded, I think it's time to relent the MV bashing. Have we forgotten that the MV group is, in fact, quite capable? My comment is directed toward the section of the SWAT review that mentions the complexity Goldenthal usual of usual MV tools but that MV couldn't right if their lives depended on it.
This statement is quite unfair, as I hardly need remind Clemmenson that while in a slump, MV artists are quite capable of creating great, original music, as past scores show.

I TOTALLY agree with Clemmenson on MV scores! they are a FARCE!! hahaha I guess I am evil though since I think that. They are here to invade the music industry with cheap synth scores! Their goal is to replace the orchestra and ruin music forever. I lije this score b/c it is harmless fun! MV would have made it even cheaper sounding!

Having bought the SWAT score before seeing the film, I now wish that MV had done the score! This sounds too much like a horror score with added heavy rock over the top. Harry Gregson-Williams "Spy Game" is more like it, modern but with a good theme; SWAT is just mixed up noise.

Having not bought the score but heard the samples and seen the film (in the review I mentioned that Goldenthal was content to thrash about with the music) I shouldn't quite say I agree yet. This score sounds like too much stuff going on at one, too many layers that don't match up the way David Arnold's music does. but once again, I could be wrong, I dont own the disc, but I'm quite familiar with the music

You're absolutely right. If they wanted a synth/guitar score, they should've gone to Trevor Rabin and Harry Gregson-Williams (or better yet, Rabin and Nick Glennie-Smith). I enjoy Goldenthal's work (particularly Sphere and Final Fantasy), but this score just doesn't work on in the movie OR on the CD. Missed opportunity.
