> Dunkirk (2017) - **

I can go either way with this, but to me the biggest problem with this score is that no matter how well it fits the picture or how logical the intent, I still think the movie could have worked without a score and maybe just as well. It puts Dunkirk in the strange category of a score that can get 3 stars for working well or zero stars for it shouldn't even have existed.

> Blade Runner 2049 (2017) - *½

A lot of people complained about the music on album during the release. I actually thought the music was ok on album and cues like "Mesa" and "Blade Runner" legitimately captured the tone of the film. But the downfall of this score is in the context of the film. I don't know if this a Zimmer issue, a Wallfisch issue, or a Villeneuve issue, but the spotting and mixing were terrible. Cues that invokes wonder didn't play in a scene that should have that sound and certain cues were too loud and obnoxious when they shouldn't be. I could forgive a lot, but not when a score doesn't serve the scenes correctly. I say your score is probably right, but I can go up to 2 stars.

> Blue Planet II (2017) - ***½

This is probably my favorite out of all the Zimmer BBC documentaries. I love all the themes and the main theme really reminded me of the ocean. "Surfing Dolphins" is a joy to listen to, and "Race to Feed" is basically how a Zimmer action cue can be utilized in a documentary. Some may find it too much of a deviation from Fenton, but if you watch that scene, you will see how the music elevated the spectacle. Even the unexpected Waltz of "Mobula Rays" and the Pirates tribute in "Portuguese Man of War" works extremely well. This is the documentary from Zimmer that I still return to the most.
