Ah, two scores that I have very different takes on...
> The Lion King (2019) - ****
My overall take on this (soundtrack only) was that it was a very good re-recording that while improving in some areas also missed the intimacy of the '94 recording. The songs were a mixed bag with some truly baffling choices ("Be Prepared" easily the worst) and overall it all balanced out to a moderate rating. This is one of the few times me and Riley agreed that we couldn't in good conscious put it on out year end lists as it was basically just an overglorfied re-recording.
It should probably also be noted that I've never returned to the 2019 album since reviewing it.
> Dark Phoenix (2019) - **
This, on the other hand, I liked a bit more than you and seemingly everyone else outside of the hardcore Zimmer fanboys. It's messy and highly experimental, but it's the kind of atmospheric noodling that I actually enjoy sometimes. Haven't revisited it in awhile, so my opinion might change now, but given how I love Zimmer's "Dune", I doubt my opinion will have changed that drastically.
Also I haven't seen either of these films yet. And the only one I actually want to see is Dark Phoenix.

..... you are truly a beast, good sir. As others have stated, these are fantastic and informative reads. Thank you for your efforts!
