My wife and I had that reaction on a rewatch a few years ago - Williams’ manipulation of his wife plays as somewhat creepy and cruel by the end, and the restaurant switcheroo finale is deeply unfunny except for Robert Prosky acting drunk as a skunk.

The film also doesn’t work as well after you’ve seen the superior Good Morning, Vietnam cuz Williams is arguably doing the same schtick with a different voice.

Don’t remember a note of the score, which I’ve never heard out of context.
