Yeah, I don't think that played a part. As far as I know he wasn't involved with Ruby (even a year ago he said something like Stephanie has long since established her own career), and the studio/producer connections referenced by jjstar in the OP thread (more detailed than what I mentioned) are almost certainly the rationale. Could always change, but Powell's selective enough and the news surprising enough that I doubt we hear even this much without it being true, as of now.
