All well said, Jon. I'm in the same boat -- he was my gateway composer into this wonderful musical addiction, but I haven't been much interested in any of his scores this past decade. Like you said, they're all well done, but they also run in together. Perhaps it's simply because he hasn't cracked a main theme with the recognition and memorability of his 90's fantasy scores....or maybe he's been stuck with a whole lot of truly crappy films. I dunno.
