This is definitely one of EGs more disconcerting works, and is not for everyone. I personally love it, which probably indicates some sociopathic tendencies on my part. However, while the review is on the whole very fair and open-minded, I cannot accept Christian's assertion that the neo-classical and especially religious music was inappropriate. Any review of Fincher's other films will suggest that the director prefers understated, challenging neo-classical music (ever after provided by Shore except for Fight Club, which was a whole different animal). Also, the major themes of the films were essentially relgious, and it must be remembered that the whole of the inmate population on the planet were religious fundamentalists whose beliefs consistently affect their behavior and their perception of their situation throughout the movie. I'd say Goldenthal was spot-on, and contributed the best score of the series (all of which are good, but Horner's and Frizzell's are decidedly more minor in their importance).
