• In Response to: A masterpiece... (Peter Marks)

This has been a strange summer for movie music. I found Jerry Goldsmith and John Williams disappointing, while three scores leapt up to surprise me -- Gladiator (Hans Zimmer's best IMO), Perfect Storm (have loved every Horner since Titanic disappointment), and Chicken Run. Chicken Run is the most fluid and entertaining score to come along in a long time. I wasn't even thinking of buying it until an on-line review told me about the "Building The Crate" cue. After seeing the movie I went right out and bought it, and discovered to my delight that almost all the tracks are wonderful, except the two songs. Still, it is a surprise and a delight, as much as the movie was in this god-awful summer of disappointments.
