Is Lorne Balfe a fool, or does he just write foolish music?

Clemmensen fires his shit cannon at Balfe for MI Fallout and his sentence at the end made me think. Is Balfe a fool really or does he write foolish music because that's his job? If a person writes foolish music by request, does that still make him a fool anyway? Does being a happy HZ warrior-clone make him a fool regardless?
